6 Tips for Keeping Your Cat Hydrated

Due to their desert origins, cats naturally drink less water and have a remarkable ability to concentrate urine, as they often don't have access to water in the wild. However, staying hydrated is crucial for their health. It's important to encourage your cat to drink enough water. Here are six tips to help you achieve this!

1) Provide fresh water and make sure to keep it clean.

It is important that the cat's water is clean and cold. Ideally, you should change the water once a day. To cool the water, you can add ice cubes.

2) Use a water fountain.

The moving water will appeal to your companion's hunting instinct and therefore encourage your cat to drink more!

3) Place the water bowl away from the litter box.

Cats don't like to eat or drink near where they do their business... and we understand why!

4) Use a large bowl of water.

Cats don't like it when their whiskers touch the edge of the bowl. So make sure you use a container that is large enough.

5) Fill the bowl with water to the brim.

Cats hate having to put their heads in the bowl. A bowl of water filled close to the edge will therefore seem more tempting to them.

6) Give your cat canned food.

Canned foods are higher in water content. By eating this food, the cat will therefore absorb more water.
