New Ferret Test

You have just adopted a new ferret, here is what we recommend to ensure that it is in good health:

Physical examination General assessment of condition (weight gain, temperature, auscultation of lungs and heart, etc.)
Ear swabs Helps detect the presence of parasites such as ear mites.
Complete stool analysis Helps detect the presence of intestinal parasites such as worms, giardia, coccidia and others.
Vaccine reminders A total of three vaccines are administered to the ferret:
  1. A Distemper vaccine should be given close to the time of purchase, then a booster 1 month later is given to achieve a good level of immunity. Subsequently, this vaccine will be administered every year.
  2. An annual rabies vaccination is also strongly recommended.
  3. An annual Lupron injection to prevent adrenal gland tumors. For males, it should be between mid-December and mid-January. For females, it is from mid-January to mid-February.

NB: Ear cleaning or claw trimming are included in this profile.
